Traveling Solo with Stefanina

So, picture this: I'm wandering around Richmond, minding my own business, when suddenly I stumble upon a treasure trove of awesomeness! Yes, Richmond, the land of surprises! Prepare to be dazzled by the art, serenaded by the music, and schooled in history (in a fun way, of course). Now, hold onto your socks as I reveal some of the cool spots I discovered on my epic quest through this magical place! https://www.visitrichmondva.com/
First Fridays: A Vibrant Celebration in Richmond's Arts District
Get ready to experience the excitement in the Arts District of Richmond on Broad Street with the amazing event known as First Fridays! It takes place on the first Friday of every month and is a vibrant celebration featuring art from local vendors, delicious food, and fantastic music! And guess what? It's completely free to attend! Don't miss out on this incredible experience! Check it out here! https://linktr.ee/richmondartsdistrict?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAaYG48MeO6H4-AyR4ttU2HotH2z5jfwVAR3W598JBXYivq3LJEpxxaTFjfQ_aem_N4obKQGrb6xYH19-BCbjmA
It was one that I enjoyed very much. When I arrived, I had no idea that this was taking place. I found out about it by walking into this cute little grocery boutique called Stella's Grocery (here's the link) https://stellasgrocery.com/. I like to get my mom coffee from the places I visit for her to try, so I asked the nice young lady for her thoughts on which coffee she suggested would be a good gift to bring to someone. She showed me some local brands, and I picked out a nice breakfast roast. As she was grinding the coffee for me, I asked her what are some cool places to check out or anything worth doing around here? That's when she told me about the First Fridays, which actually ended up being the first First Friday they ever did! It's always nice when you meet kind locals to give you the deets on what's happening.
*Helpful tip: It's always interesting to ask the locals in shops, bars, or restaurants for their thoughts on places you should check out. It's amazing how much info you can get just by striking up a conversation with a stranger. Now, of course, use your best judgment on this as some people would rather not be bothered, or you never know, you just might make someone's day! Also, as you walk around, make sure you admire the street art! There are so many beautiful pieces on buildings that you can't miss!
Unveiling the Historical Layers
Let's talk about the wild ride that is Richmond's history! Imagine Patrick Henry dramatically slamming his fist and shouting, "Give me liberty or give me death!" Richmond is like a history book that's been turned into a theme park, filled with epic tales of our nation's beginnings and evolution. From the Revolutionary War to the Civil War and beyond, there are so many stories that have unfolded in this town. Check out more of this historical rollercoaster here! https://www.rva.gov/economic-development/historic-sites#:~:text=Canal%20Walk,Discover%20more.
As I walked along the canal, I couldn't help but notice the pain and beauty that lay before me. It was like going back in time to a world of the unknown. I wish I had been able to enter the museum, but unfortunately, it was closed upon my arrival. I must say it looked fascinating from the outside, so I can only imagine the vast history that awaits inside. It is most definitely on my to-do list for next time I visit. I will keep you posted!
Indulge Your Appetite
Hungry yet? Well you're in luck! There are so many cool eats to check out while you're there. If you are into fried chicken, I found this really good spot called Buttermilk and Honey https://www.buttermilkandhoneyrva.com/ . I would recommend checking it out!
A GWAR Bar?! No Way?! Yes it is real! And they serve food there too! I wont't spoil it for you and let you check it out for yourself. It's off the beaten path near the Arts District. If you are in town for First Friday's, take a stroll down the alley and that's where you find this masterpiece! https://gwarbar.com/

As I mentioned earlier, there's lots of food to choose from. From the English pub to the crazy dive bar, there is something for everyone. Some noteworthy places that I would like to try:
